I have always had a passion for interior design. I remember asking my Mom to redo my Victorian designed bedroom when I was in the 7th grade. She gave me a $200 budget and said if I could do it myself, I could do whatever I wanted. I ripped down the wallpaper and sponged painted, something that was very 1993! I rearranged the furniture and shopped for new bedding. I was hooked and knew I had an eye for design!! Though I didn't see a career at the time in design, I always stayed passionate. When I moved out into my first apartment I was in a huge Shabby Chic phase and everything needed to be white. I have since grown out of that phase and moved on to creating unique, beautiful interiors for myself and professionally.
I had the privilege of working as a Project Manager and Designer with a high-end Design/Build firm upon graduating design school. While I was there I was able to learn a lot about design and construction. After taking some time off to grow my family, I have started my own design firm, Savvy Interior Design. My design philosophy is to provide everyone with that savvy high-end look for less. I love sourcing items and inspiration everywhere and can look at the whole picture of a space to see the final vision from one single item.
I think if I was able to choose multiple careers I would also become an event planner. I also love designing parties and entertaining! I feel the same savvy philosophies I apply in interior design can be applied to other areas of life and hope to share this in Living Savvy.
I currently live in the Greater Sacramento area with my husband, two young boys, and two large dogs. When I am not designing for myself or clients, I enjoy working out, playing with my boys, cooking and anything to do with wine.
